Well, maybe instead of calling this Daily blurbs, I should say semi-annual. Another semester has passed, and I'm getting closer to that goal of finally finishing school. At first is was hard to tell people I was 25 years old and still working on my undergraduate degree, but I've gotten past that. Now, I just hope I am an inspiration to anyone who thinks they are too old to go back to school. I was fortunate enough to realize the importance of a higher education before it was too late. I was side-tracked by making decent money without a degree, but it wasn't enough. When the economy changed, and companies began downsizing, I was one of the firsts to go. I honestly believe if I had my degree, I would still be with that company even today. But in addition to realizing that higher education is a necessity, I discovered my true passion. Teaching. While unemployed, I had the chance to volunteer teach at a program called LIFT (Literacy Instruction For Texans). I was teaching adults basic computer skills. These adults were recent graduates of a reading program by the Scottish Rites Hospital. I was blessed with meeting several people who were learning to speak English, learning to read English, and then coming to me to learn how to use a computer. I felt so needed in the industry of education. That is what encouraged me to pursue a Bilingual Education Degree.

So, in the future, you may see some spanish in my blurbs. I'm just trying to get some practice. I don't know who reads this stuff, but I hope its not too boring. Check back in 5 or 6 months to see the next update.
